Mission Update 8/16
First things first, the child is back in school. I saw great returns with my approach over the summer, so I'm inclined to keep up the low pressure, high support (from an age appropriate distance) environment. There's space for targeted engagement, in a few different areas, once a routine settles in, and I'm satisfied with this.

First things first, the child is thriving. As anticipated, our time is being spent floating between the tennis courts, the pool, and the nature trail. It's precisely the kind of leisurely summer she needs after a taxing school year. She's presenting with summer brain, but I'm doing my best to remain patient with it.

When ChatGPT launched, I felt the commentary was sufficient to understand what it was and what it did. Roughly a year ago, probably at the launch of a new version, the details of which I can't remember, I signed up for a paid account with Open AI. I believed in the work they were doing, and so I wanted to do my part to contribute.

It's been a thrilling couple of months since I decided to shift my attention and focus online. As much fun as I've had, it's not a sustainable way to go through life on the internet. That I was able to create and maintain the kind of tension necessary to make it this far, without sacrificing too much quality of real life, is really kind of miraculous. It's time to move on though.

A while ago, I wrote a post defending local churches for the charitable works they do. A lot of my first hand experience with this was working a food pantry during the pandemic. The church that runs it has a growing number of campuses in the area, and they're an "all are welcome" crowd.
